A Student’s Guide to Bonfire Night in London If you are lucky enough to be staying in London during November you will have an incredible choice of bonfire night celebrations to attend. Whether you’re staying at trendy Urbanest student accommodation in Central London or you’re out West somewhere like Kingston you will be able to find a firework display to mark the occasion in style. Here’s a few events going on around London around the 5th November: Alexandra Palace Fireworks Festival â€" 1st November Finally returning after a 4-year break, this spectacular event has returned to its place amongst the highlights of bonfire night celebrations. In addition to the firework display there is also funfair rides, entertainment, street food and a craft beer village. This North London event has a slightly pricier entrance fee than the average but well worth it for the extra programming. Normal tickets cost £9 and the entrance to the Bier festival will set you back around £10. Crystal Palace Fireworks â€" 5th November With two firework displays at 7pm and 8.30pm there’s two chances to get your fire thrills at Crystal Palace. This year, there’s the option of pre-ordering your tickets for the reasonable price tag of £6 or you can pay on the gate for £7. This is a good display for locally living students of the University of Greenwich. Lord Mayor’s Show and Fireworks â€" 8th November For one of a truly spectacular shows in London around bonfire night, the Lord Mayor’s Thames display will not disappoint. The riverside between Waterloo Bridge and Blackfriars Bridge commands the best views of the display. The fireworks start promptly at around 6.30pm so get there early to get a good space, although you should be able to see the fireworks from plenty of locations. Wimbledon Fireworks Display â€" 5th November Always a popular event, this firework display attracts big crowds to see the sky illuminated by a well-curated extravaganza of colour and bangs. Tickets are quite steep at £8 but you are guaranteed to see a wonderful display. Southwark Park Fireworks â€" 5th November For those in easy distance of Bermondsey, Southwark Park offers a traditional family firework display for free. Watch a spectacular firework display with all the great hot food and drink that has become associated with the 5th November celebrations. Students of King’s College London and nearby universities and colleges are fairly local to this one. Ealing Fireworks Display â€" 8th November Set to music, this impressive display of pyrotechnics is perfect for those wanting a modern firework display in a handy West London location. For a small entrance fee of £6 you can enjoy an exciting display to the soundtrack of popular movie themes such as Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park and Harry Potter. This is handy for students at the University of West London. 0
